Chamillionaire

Chamillionaire, born Hakeem Seriki, is a rapper from Houston, Texas. After meeting fellow rapper and Houston-native Paul Wall, the two became staples of the local mixtape scene, forming the group The Color Changin’ Chick. The two released their collaborative debut, Get Ya Mind Correct, in 2002 without the support of a major label. The album still sold 150,000 copies regardless, and was nominated for Indie Album of the Year by hip hop magazine The Source. Chamillionaire released his debut album as a solo artist, The Sound Of Revenge, on his own imprint with Universal Music Group. The album, released in 2005, went platinum thanks to the success of singles such as “Turn It Up” and “Ridin,’” the latter of which was parodied by musician and comedian “Weird Al” Yankovic in what later became an early viral video. Chamillionare released his most recent album, Poison, in 2016.
