Zach Braff, born Zachary Israel Braff, was born on April the 6th, 1975 in New Jersey and is an American filmmaker and actor.  As a young child actor, Braff attended Stagedoor Manor, a performing arts training program for children from the ages 10 to 18. Braff then attended the Northwestern University School of Communication before starting to gain roles in shows such as The Babysitters Club and Manhattan Murder Mystery alongside Diane Keaton and Alan Ada.

Best known for his role in the long running television show Scrubs as J.D, he worked alongside Neil Flynn and Ken Jenkins.  For his role in the show he was nominated for an Emmy, amongst other awards. Braff is also best known for writing, directing and starring in the romantic comedy, Garden State alongside Natalie Portman and Ian Holm.
