Coming from Phoenix, Arizona, The Summer Set was found in 2007 playing pop rock music. The band was co-founded by John and Stephen Gomez. The siblings recruited John Montgomery, Jess Bowen, and Brian Dales. The band’s name came from an atlas where the town Somerset, New Jersey, appeared on the page when they opened the book.
Their musical influences are the likes of Jimmy Eats World and the Format. They also played for local shows, issuing EPs while in high school. As they graduated, they signed under the label Razor & Tie. In 2009, they released “Love Like This” as their official debut.
