The Middle Kids are a indie pop band based out of Sydney Australia. The group formed in 2014 and consists of the piano player Hannah Joy, multi-instrumentalist Tim Fitz, and drummer Harry Day. In 2016 they recorded and released their debut single called “Edge of Town.” In the same year the single and the band were featured on Elton John’s Beats 1 radio show. Apart from winning over Elton John as a fan, the Middle Kids received wide exposure thanks to the show.
The group then entered the FBI Radio Northern Lights competition and won. As a result of their win, the Middle Kids earned a spot performing at the Iceland Airwaves Music Festival in Reykjavik, Iceland. In 2017 the group released their first EP entitled Middle Kids and went on extensive tour playing with the Cold War Kids. The Middle Kids also performed at SXSW and The Great Escape Festival.
