Mark Rylance is an English actor, theater director, and playwright born in Ashford, Kent, England on January 18, 1960. Walters was the first artistic director of the Shakespeare’s Globe in London from 1995 to 2005. He made his debut in theater in 1981 in a production of Desperado Corner and continued landing roles in productions of The Tempest, Peter Pan, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, The Seagull, Henry V, As You Like It, Endgame, Peer Gynt, Boeing Boeing, La Bete, Jerusalem, Nice Fish, True West, and more. In 1985 he made his debut on television in the TV movie Wallenberg: A Hero’s Story and has since had roles in the television movies and shows Incident in Judaea, Love Lies Bleeding, Loving, Hamlet, Henry V, Changing Stages, Leonardo, Richard II, The Government Inspector, Bing, and Wolf Hall. He made his debut in film in 1987 in the movie Hearts of Fire, and has also had roles in the films The Grass Arena, Prospero’s Books, Angels & Insects, Intimacy, Blitz, Anonymous, Days and Nights, The Gunman, Bridge of Spies and others. Throughout his career he has been nominated for a number of awards and has won an Academy Award, three Tony Awards, a Satellite Award, two Laurence Olivier Awards and more.
