Marcin Bartosz Gortat was born on February 17, 1984 in Lodz, Poland. Marcin is a talented athlete and has experience in basketball, soccer, swimming and track and field. He was a swimmer in Poland’s national team. His father was an Olympian and won a bronze medal at the 1972 Munich Olympics and the 1976 Montreal Olympics. His mother also played sports and was part of the Polish National volleyball team.
After attending Technical school, he started playing basketball in Europe before moving to the United States. From 2007 to 2010, he played basketball with the Orlando Magic. He later went on to play for the Phoenix Suns. In 2013, he went to play for the Washington Wizards. In 2014, he signed a $60 million contract with Washington Wizards.
