Manny Machado is a Dominican-American professional baseball player born in Hialeah, Florida on July 6, 1992. He is currently a third baseman and shortstop for the San Diego Padres of the Major League Baseball. He played baseball in high school at Brito Miami Private School in Miami, Florida. In 2010 he was selected by the Baltimore Orioles third overall in the 2010 Major League Baseball draft, right out of high school. He was signed to a contract for $5.25 million. The summer of 2010 he played for the USA Baseball’s 18-and-under national team. Machado made his MLB debut in 2012 and in 2013 and 2015 won Gold Glove Awards. He played with the Orioles from 2012 to 2018. In 2018 he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers and made his debut with the team on July 20, 2018. He played with the Dodgers for the 2018 season and in 2019 signed a ten-year contract with the San Diego Padres for $300 million. Throughout his career he has recorded 183 home runs, 534 runs batted in, and has a batting average of .281.
