Jerry Lee Lewis is an American singer, songwriter, and musician born in Ferriday, Louisiana on September 29, 1935. He is known by the nickname The Killer and has been described as “rock & roll’s first great wild man.” As a kid, he started playing the piano with his cousins. He made his first public performance in 1949 playing with a country and western band at a car dealership in his hometown Ferriday. In 1956 he went to Memphis, Tennessee to audition for Sun Records. Lewis released his debut studio album in 1958 self-titled Jerry Lee Lewis. He has since released the albums The Return of Rock, Soul My Way, She Still Comes Around, The Golden Cream of Country, Touching Home, A Taste of Country, Country Class, Odd Man In, Killer Country, Mean Old Man, Young Blood, Rock and Roll Time, Sometimes a Memory Ain’t Enough, Boogie Woogie Country Man and many more. Lewis has released over 40 albums, 10 compilation albums, and 4 live albums. He has won several Grammy Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. Lewis was one of the first people inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
