Iko Uwais is an Indonesian actor, stuntman, fight choreographer, and martial artist born in Jakarta, Indonesia on February 12, 1983. He is best known for his roles in the films Merantau, The Raid, Raid 2, Headshot, and Mile 22. Uwais was discovered in 2007 by the director Gareth Evans. He signed a five-year contract with Gareth Evens and his production company and made his debut in film in 2009 in the movie Merantau. He has since had roles in the films The Raid, Man of Tai Chi, The Raid 2, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Headshot, Beyond Skyline, Mile 22, The Night Comes for Us, Stuber, and Triple Threat. In 2019 he made his debut on television in the show Wu Assassins. Uwais was the action choreographer for the films The Raid, Raid 2, Beyond Skyline, Mile 22, and The Night Comes for Us. In 2016 Uwais won an Infotainment Award for Indonesian Celebrity of World Achievement.
