Douglas Eric Liman was born on July 24, 1965 in New York City, New York. He is best known as a director and producer, and he has an impressive list of accomplishments. His love of film making can be found as far back as his early teens when he started making short films. He attended Brown University and was a co-founder and station manager of the student run BTV. He also co-founded the National Association of College Broadcasters (NACB), the first trade association geared to student-staffed radio and television stations, in 1988. Then, he continued on to the graduate program at the University of Southern California, where worked on his first project in 1993, the comedy thriller Getting In/Student Body. Some well known films and television projects are Kissing Jessica Stein (2001), The Bourne Identity (2002), Arrested Development (2003), The O.C. (2003-2004) and Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2007), and of course, Swingers (1996). He has been nominated for several smaller awards and won the Florida Film Critics Circle Award in 1996 for Swingers.
