Contact

Cherry Poppin’ Daddies is a swing revival band which has endured for three decades by being a cultural anachronism. The group started when front man Steve Perry attended University of Oregon to study chemistry, there meeting bassist Dan Schmid. They were initially interested in punk rock, but at the time grunge and alternative were coming to the fore. Perry conceived Cherry Poppin’ Daddies as a defiant attempt to swim against the latest trend, inspired by artists such as Frank Zappa, The Clash, and Meat Puppets. The group picked up saxophonist Brooks Brown and self-produced their first album “Ferociously Stoned” in 1990. They later signed with the label Space Age Bachelor Pad.

Cherry Poppin’ Daddies have since produced eight studio albums at a slow, but steady, pace. Their 1997 single “Zoot Suit Riot” was a worldwide charting hit, breaking them into the mainstream. The group revives Rat Pack and Tin Pan Alley music of the 1940s and 1950s, with a punk edge polishing their defiant retro style.
