Chandler Riggs was born on June 27, 1999 in Atlanta, Georgia. He initially began his career in musical theatre, performing at a stage school before going on to be cast in ‘The Wizard of Oz’ in Atlanta’s Fox Theatre. Young Riggs, aged 9 at the time, was also cast in two movies, Get Low(2009), and The Wronged Man (2010).
At the age of 10 years old, Riggs was cast to play Carl Grimes in popular horror TV series The Walking Dead, whom he has played to this day. Riggs has won several awards for his acting in ‘The Walking Dead’, including the ‘Saturn Award – Best Performance by a Younger Actor in a Television Series’ (2013 and 2016). Riggs has been nominated for a number of awards too.
