Bernabé Williams Figueroa Jr. or Bernie Williams was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on September 13, 1968. He became part of the Double-A team of the New York Yankees during their recruitment in Albany in 1991. In 1995, he hit 18 home runs, and by 1996, he received the ALCS MVP. In the same year, the New York Yankees won the World Series.

Williams was the first recipient of the Gold Glove award in 1997. He also received the World Series ring in the same year. He continued to play for the Yankees from 1999 to 2000. He joined the Yankees in four World Series Championships. After he retired his MLB career with 287 home runs, he started to focus on the non-profit Little Kids Rock.
