Wendell Pierce is an American actor born in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 8, 1963. He is best known for his roles in the television series The Wire, Suits, and Treme. While still in school he appeared in a theater production of The Winter’s Tale and went on to be in numerous other stage productions, including The Cherry Orchard, Serious Money, Cymbeline, The Piano Lesson, among others. He also took on the role of theater producer on the Broadway show Clybourne Park, it was nominated for four Tony Awards and in 2012 won the Tony Award for Best Play. In 1986 he made his debut in film in the movie The Money Pit and continued to land roles in the films, Malcolm X, Bye Bye Love, Hackers, Ray, Stay Alive, Selma, The Runner, Four, Bad Moms, The Gift, and more. For his role in the film The Runner he was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead. His debut in television was in the television series Vietnam War Story in 1987. He has also been in the series Law & Order, Third Watch , City of Angels, Suits, Treme, Archer, Chicago P.D., Jack Ryan, and others. Throughout his career he has been in over 80 television shows and films.
