Wayne Shorter was born on August 25, 1933, on Newark, New Jersey. He received his first GRAMMY nomination for Best Jazz Performance by a Group for the song “I Sing the Body Electric” in 1972. During the 22nd GRAMMY awards in 1979, he bagged the award for Best Jazz Fusion Performance for 8:30. Another GRAMMY award for “Call Sheet Blues” followed in 1987. The song won the Best Instrumental Composition.

In 1994, Shorter won the Best Jazz Instrumental Performance for “A Tribute to Miles.” Another award for Best Contemporary Jazz Performance for “High Life” followed in 1996. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from GRAMMY Awards in 2015 and in 2018, his album Emanon won the Best Jazz Instrumental Album.

Some of his albums are The Ultimate (2012), Weather Report (2012), Beyond the Sound Barrier (2005).
