The Green

A reggae band that comes straight out of O’ahu, Hawai’i, The Green formed in 2009 with five founding members: JP Kennedy, Zion Thompson, Caleb Keolanui, Ikaika Antone, and Brad Watanabe. Their self-titled album, which was released in 2010, opens with a traditional Hawai’ian chant, which respects the ancient Hawai’ian culture. It was well-received, and was recognized as the iTunes Best Reggae Album of the Year. Their sophomore album, which was recorded under the Easy Star Records Label, was released in 2011 and entitled Ways & Means. This album hit #1 on the Billboard Reggae charts and allowed them to go on to tour and make appearances at a variety of very popular festivals.

Their 3rd album, Hawai’i ’13, was a group effort, in which everyone collaborated equally on the songs to give it their own soulful imprint. The album was expected to do just as well as the first two albums, which sold a combined 50,000 copies internationally. The group also performed for three shows with Bruno Mars in 2014.
