Stephen Stills is an American singer, songwriter, and musician born in Dallas, Texas on January 3, 1945. He is best known for his work with the bands Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. After college he played in a number of bands and sang as a solo artist. In 1966 he helped form the rock band Buffalo Springfield with Richie Furay and Neil Young in Los Angeles, California. Buffalo Springfield released 3 studio albums and 4 compilation albums before disbanding in 2012. In 1968 he co-founded the band Crosby, Stills & Nash with David Crosby and Graham Nash. They released 8 studio albums, 5 live albums, 6 compilation albums, and 4 video albums before disbanding in 2015. In 1971 Stills formed the band Manassas that was together for 2 years before disbanding in 1973. Manassas released 2 studio albums, 1 live album, and 1 compilation album. As a solo artist Stills released his debut solo album in 1970 self-titled Stephen Stills and has since released the albums, Stephen Stills 2, Stills, Illegal Stills, Thoroughfare Gap, Right By You, Stills Alone, Stephen Stills Live, Stills Stills: The Best of Stephen Stills, Turnin’ Back The Pages, Man Alive!, Just Roll Tape, Live At Shepherd’s Bush, and Carry On. In 1969 Stills won a Grammy Award for Best New Artist of the Year with Crosby, Stills and Nash.
