Stefano Sollima is an Italian director and screenwriter, born in Rome, Italy on May 4, 1966. He is best known for directing the films ACAB – All Cops Are Bastards, Suburra, and Sicario: Day of the Soldado and for directing the television shows Romanzo criminale – La serie and Gomorrah. He started his career operating a camera in war zones for the television networks CBS, NBC, and CNN. Sollima made his directorial debut in 1991 on the short film Thanks. He has since directed and written the short films Ipocrites, Sotto le unghie, and Zippo. He directed his first full length film in 2012 titled ACAB – All Cops Are Bastards. He has also directed the films Suburra and Sicairo: Day of the Soldado. In 1999 he became a television director and has directed episodes for the shows Un posto al sole, La squadra, Ho sposato un calciatore, Crimes, Romanzo criminale – La serie, Mal’aria, Gomorrah, and ZeroZeroZero. Throughout his career he has been nominated for a number of awards and has won three Moscow International Film Festival Awards and a Flaiano International Prizes Award.
