Russell Edward Brand was born on June 4, 1975 in Grays, Essex, England. He began performing as a standup comedian in 2000 and in 2006 he went on a nationwide tour that he called Shame. He also landed gigs as a host for several shows, including a couple seasons of the popular Big Brother. Though he has made several offensive comments in these roles, including some inappropriate political comments he used at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, he continues to get small and large hosting opportunities.

Despite being busy with standup comedy and hosting, Brand has also hosted radio stations, including one called The Russell Brand Show, which began in 2006 but later ended when he got fired. He has also appeared in numerous movies and television shows. Most Americans first learned about him when he starred in Forgetting Sarah Marshall alongside Kristen Bell. He has also starred in projects with other American “A-listers” such as Adam Sandler and Jonah Hill. He was most recently one voiceover in the 2016 film Trolls.

Brand released his autobiography in 2007 in which he discusses his rough past but makes it amusing at the same time. He released two sequels to this book, as well as wrote a column for the popular publication The Guardian and created a children’s book in 2014 called Russell Brand’s Trickster Tales: The Pied Piper of Hamelin. He is also very busy in political activism and has created two podcasts, one named The Russell Brand Podcast (2015 – 2017), and his most recent podcast, Under the Skin With Russell Brand.
