Roger Daltrey is an English singer and actor born in East Acton, London, England on March 1, 1944. He is best known for being the founder and lead singer of the rock band The Who. The band was started in 1964. They released 11 studio albums, 14 live albums, 26 compilation albums, 4 EPs, and 4 soundtrack albums. They have sold over 100 million albums worldwide and have had 14 singles enter the Top 10 charts in the UK. As a member of The Who, Daltrey received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1988 from the British Phonographic Industry and one in 2001 from the Grammy Foundation. In 1990 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and in 2005 he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame as a member of The Who. As a solo artist Daltrey has released eight studio albums, five compilation albums and one live album. In 1975 he made his on-screen acting debut in the film Tommy and has since had roles in the films and television shows The Legacy, McVicar, The Comedy Errors, Pop Pirates, Buddy, Crossbow, Gentry, Midnight Caller, Little Match Girl, Highlander, Lightning Jack, Sliders, Like It Is, Best, The Bill, Ride Awakening, The Mighty Boosh, Johnny Was, Once Upon a Time and others. He has also had roles in stage productions of The Hunting of the Snake, The Wizard Of Oz in Concert: Dreams Come True, Mutiny on the Bounty, My Fair Lady and more.
