Robert De Niro was born on August 17, 1943 and landed his first film role in 1963’s The Wedding Party, though the film was not released until 1969. In 1973, he began one of many future projects with Martin Scorsese in Mean Streets. He won a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his role in The Godfather Part II. De Niro also worked on Taxi Driver (1976), New York, New York (1977), Raging Bull (1980), Goodfellas (1990) and Casino (1995).
He also expanded into comedy roles with Meet the Parents (2000), in which he played an acerbic father who grills his wife’s fiancé. In 2008, he worked on the film Righteous Kill before his work in 2012 on Silver Linings Playbook, Freelancers, Red Lights and Being Flynn. He won the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016 as well as numerous prominent awards (e.g. Grammy and Academy Awards) and lesser known awards (e.g. New York Film Critics, MTV, etc.)
