Protoje

Oje Ken Ollivierre, better known as Protoje, is a Jamaican reggae singer-songwriter who incorporates the sounds of dub and rock into his work. Born to singer Lorna Bennet and a former Calypso king, Protoje developed a love for music early on in life. It soon became clear to him that he wanted to spend his life spreading the messages of Rastafari, love, and equality to the world through music… and thus, Protoje was born.

Protoje released his debut album, The Seven Year Itch, in 2011. It was followed by The Eight Year Affair in 2013, and, most recently, 2014’s Ancient Future. Protoje’s YouTube channel features several songs with over two million views each. “Who Knows,” “Stylin’”, “Resist Not Evil,” and “I&I” are a few of these. The deeply introspective artist has collaborated with many of his peers. Among these are Chronixx, Jesse Royal, Sevana, and Ky-Mani Marley. In addition to solo work, Protoje leads the InDiggNation band.
