Paul Wesley was born as Pawel Tomasz Wasilewski on July 23, 1982 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. His interest in acting started in his high school years and he even transferred to Lakewood Prep School to accommodate the acting classes they offer. In 11th grade, Wesley was cast in Guiding Light (1999-2001), an American soap opera. He attended Rutgers University for one year before dropping out after several promising roles were offered to him.
He appeared in several small roles in television with appearances in notable shows such as; Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2000, 2005), Smallville (2003), The O.C. (2003), 8 Simple Rules (2003-2004), and CSI: New York (2005). Wesley was also the lead role in Wolf Lake. Wesley became household name after being cast in one of the lead roles in Vampire Diaries (2009-2017), which has been running for 8 seasons. His character Stefan Salvatore became a heartthrob to millions of Americans. Wesley has appeared in several films in his career including The Late Bloomer (2016), Mothers and Daughters (2016), and Amira and Sam (2014).
