Born on May 22, 1959, in Manchester, England, Steven Morrissey formed The Smiths. The group is known for the ballad “Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me” in 1987. He embarked on a solo career after his stint with the group and gained popularity among the young Latino community. His most popular songs at the time include “Suedehead” and “Everyday Is Like Sunday.”

In 2009, he released the album Years of Refusal which contained 13 tracks including the song “I’m Throwing My Arms Around Paris”. He released another album in 2017, Low In High School, followed by This is Morrissey in 2018. He also released an autobiography in Penguin Classics in 2013.

Among the awards he won include NME Awards for Best Solo Artist, Best Songwriter, Best Male Singer, and Most Wonderful Human Being.
