Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear are a mother/son folk duo from Kansas City, Missouri. The duo is made up of singer-songwriter/guitarist Madisen Ward and his mother, guitarist and background vocalist Ruth Ward.Their influences include the likes of Tom Waits and Tracy Chapman, while also drawing inspiration from the music of Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and James Taylor.
In 2013, they released the EP We Burned the Cane Fields, which brought them much attention within the folk community. Their first full-length studio album, Skeleton Crew, was released in 2015. It debuted at #50 on the UK Albums Chart and features the single “Silent Movies.”
