Kris Kristofferson, born on June 22nd, 1936 in Brownsville, Texas is an American singer and songwriter and actor. Kris struggled throughout his youth and young adulthood to get his music recognized. After serving a stint in the military he decided to give up a teaching job to focus on songwriting and music. He then moved to Nashville and got a job sweeping floors at Columbia Recordings Studio. He attempted to pitch songs for over a year while working as a janitor and part-time helicopter pilot.

In 1966 Dave Dudley purchased and released one of Kris’ singles called “Vietnam Blues.”  In 1967 Kris signed to Epic Records and released his debut single called “Golden Idol/Killing Time.” He then started a songwriting label called Combine Music and signed to Monument Records. In 1970 he released his debut album called Kristofferson.

In 1971 Kris released his second album called The Silver Tongued Devil and I. The album was a critical success with the single called “Lovin’ Her Was Easier.” In 1971 he released his third album called Border Lord. In the same year he won a grammy for the category Song of the Year.  In 1972 he released his fourth album entitled Jesus Was a Capricorn. Kris released 14 more albums up 2016, with his latest being The Cedar Creek Sessions.
