Kishi Bashi was born on November 4, 1975 in Seattle, Washington. While studying at Cornell’s School of Engineering, he formed the band Tamarisk. He eventually left Cornell and joined Berklee School of Music. He is the founder of New York’s Jupiter One. Kishi has since become an internationally recognized violinist.
He signed onto the label Joyful Noise Recordings where he released the album 151a. In 2012 Microsoft acquired the license to use his single Bright Whites in one of its commercials for Windows 8. In the same year Sony also bought the rights to use his single It All Began With A Burst for a Sony Xperia commercial. He released his second album Lighght in 2014. He performs at live tours and is planning to release more albums.
