Julian Edelman is an American professional football player born in Redwood City, California on May 22, 1986. He is currently a wide receiver and punt returner for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. Edelman played football in high school at Woodside High School in Woodside, California. He went on to play college football at the College of San Mateo for a year and Kent State University from 2006 to 2008. In 2009 he was selected by The New England Patriots in the seventh round, 232 overall, in the 2009 NFL Draft and was signed to a four-year rookie contract. He became a free agent in 2012 and re-signed with the Patriots on a one-year contract. In 2014 he re-signed with the Patriots on a four-year contract for $17 million. Edelman signed a two-year contract extension with the Patriots in 2017 for $11 million and in 2019 signed another two-year contract extension for $18 million. Edelman is a three time Super Bowl champion. Throughout his NFL career he has recorded 499 receptions, 5,390 receiving yards, 30 receiving touchdowns, 2,593 return yards, and 4 return touchdowns.
