Jonas Valanciunas was born on May 6, 1992 in Utena, Lithuania. He started playing for Perlas in 2008 and moved into the Lituanian Basketball League. He was drafted fifth overall in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors. In 2013, he was named most valuable player of the Las Vegas Summer League. He signed a four-year contract extension with the Raptors in 2015 and helped them get to Game 6 of the Finals.
