John Cleese, born John Marwood Cleese on the 27th of October 1939 in Somerset, England is an English actor, comedian, voice actor, screenwriter and producer.  With a career that began in the early 1960’s at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and actor on The Frost Report, his first television appearance where he worked alongside Ronnie Barker and David Frost.

Best known for co-founding the comedy troupe Monty Python, he had a part in the show Monty Python’s Flying Circus and four Monty Python films, most famous of which is Monty Python and the Holy Grail.  Outside of Monty Python, Cleese has also written and starred in the hit comedy show Fawlty Towers and was nominated for a BAFTA for his work as Basil Fawlty in the show. Most recently the actor has been in the television show Hold the Sunset, a comedy where he works alongside Alison Steadman.
