New Jersey native Jay Stolar has made a name for himself as soulful singer and songwriter who has since relocated to the New York City area. While he was a student at New York University, Jay Stolar performed with the indie band Julius C, which got together in 2004. Together, the members of Julius C were able to perform at various venues and events such as SXSW. However, it was undeniable that Jay Stolar would eventually pursue a solo career, and after meeting entertainment lawyer Barry Perlman, he embarked on that journey. 2009 saw the formation of Jay & the Birds, along with the release of their EP Soul Volume 1, heavily influenced by the musical styles of Bill Withers and Otis Redding.
Reinventing himself once again, Jay Stolar broke away from Jay & the Birds, traveled around Europe, and eventually self-released the album More Than We Think in 2013. This album was instrumental in jumpstarting his career, as the single “Like You Do” was played on the CW television series 90210. He later announced a series of appearances to promote the album in 2014 in New York.
