Jason Momoa was born on August 1,1979 in Honolulu Hawaii, but spent his younger years in Iowa. After graduating high school, Momoa moved back to Hawaii where his striking physical features and good looks led to him being encouraged to try modelling out. This led to Momoa winning Hawaii’s Model of the Year in 1999. He was then cast in Baywatch Hawaii and was a cast member for 2 seasons, while also appearing in shows such as North Shore (2004–2005) and Johnson Family Vacation. Momoa was then cast as Ronon Dex, a very popular character in the TV series Stargate: Atlantis (2005-2009). His character developed a cult-like following and earned him several appearances on Comic-con.
He is perhaps best well known for his character the Dothraki King, “Khal Drogo” on HBOs Emmy award winning show Game of Thrones (2011-2012). His popular performances on the hit tv show paved the way for major projects such as playing the title character of Conan the Barbarian (2011), a reboot of the 1982 hit played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Momoa also appeared as Aquaman in DC’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017).
Momoa also made his directorial, writing, and producing debut in 2014, after the release of Road to Paloma (2014), which he also starred in.
