Jamila Woods

Jamilla Woods is a poet, songwriter, singer, author, teacher, and mentor born in Chicago, Illinois. She possesses bachelor degrees in Africana Studies, as well as Theater & Performance Studies. The music she produces, which draws heavily on the influences of Lucille Clifton and Gwendolyn Brooks, falls in genres of soul and hip-hop. Woods also says that being raised in the church choir has influenced her music stylings, which is evident in her debut album, Heavn, released in 2016. Woods has been associated with fellow artists Macklemore, Coloring Book, and Chance The Rapper.
