Isaiah Rashad

Isaiah Rashad McClain, who goes simply by Isaiah Rashad, was born on May 16, 1991, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Although Rashad had temporarily considered becoming a preacher, it was not until he listened to the OutKast album ATLiens that he decided to switch gears and pursue a career as a rap artist. He rapped and recorded with his friends throughout high school and college, finally linking up with a cousin who let him use his recording studio. In the summer of 2012, Rashad got the opportunity to tour with Juicy J, Smoke DZA, and Joey Badass, which gained him much attention. He was later signed to Top Dawg Entertainment in 2013, which also houses rappers Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q.

Rashad then moved to Los Angeles where he could be closer to the people he needed to make his music. Rashad was quickly gaining recognition as an up-and-coming rapper, and finally released his EP Cilvia Demo in early 2014. He toured for three months in 2014 alongside Schoolboy Q, and was featured on the cover of XXL Magazine as part of their Freshman Class of 2014.
