Hermitage Green is the verdant name of the Irish acoustic folk rock band, with the line-up Darragh Griffin (lead vocals, guitar), Dan Murphy (vocals, guitar, dobro, harmonica), Darragh Graham (djembe, banjo, backing vocals), Barry Murphy (bass), and Dermot Sheedy (bodhrán). The band takes its name from the neighborhood where the Murphy brothers grew up. They got their start from playing local pubs, and signed with Sony Music Ireland in 2015.
While Hermitage Green is a folk rock band, their selection of instruments is exotic, which produces an interesting and refreshing approach, more worldly than you’d expect from Irish folk music. Recent years have seen them touring sold-out shows in Ireland, the UK, and Australia. They’ve released two EPs and two albums to date, with their popularity growing thanks to their unusual sound.
