Gina Rodriguez, born Gina Alexis Rodriguez on July the 30th 1984 in California and is an American actress, writer, model, producer and director. Starting a career in 2005 with theatre productions, the actress held small roles in television and film before her breakthrough role in the musical-drama film Filly Brown where she portrayed Majo Tonorio.
Following this role with further small roles in both film and television, she then went on to have a recurring role in the long running sitcom, The Bold and the beautiful as Beverly before moving on to her best known role to date, that of Jane Villanueva in the telenovela style comedy-drama, Jane the Virgin. Appearing in the show to critical acclaim from 2014, the actress has also portrayed Anya in the 2018 science fiction thriller Annihilation in which she appeared alongside Natalie Portman and Tessa Thompson.
