George Clooney

George Timothy Clooney was born on May 6, 1961 in Lexington, Kentucky. Although he had various small acting jobs while at acting school, Clooney did not appear on our screens regularly until he was cast as Dr. Doug Ross in NBC medical drama ER in 1994. Starring with actors such as Noah Wyle and Julianna Marguiles, he left the show in 1999 but not before being recognized for his talents. He was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards and three Golden Globes.

His first big role on the big screen was in horror comedy From Dusk Til Dawn (1996) starring alongside Quentin Tarantino. He went on to enjoy success in many other films such as Out of Sight (1998) and cult comedy O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000). It was his performance as Danny Ocean in the 2001 remake of Oceans Eleven, alongside an all star cast including Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts that propelled him to the next level as super stardom. It is a role he reprised for sequels Oceans Twelve (2004) and Oceans Thirteen (2007).

Clooney is not just a talented actor but has also made a successful career behind the camera. For directing The Ides of March (2011) he was nominated for an Oscar and Golden Globe. He also directed The Monuments Men (2014) and has produced many movies including The Men Who Stare at Goats (2009) and critically acclaimed Argo (2012), which won a Best Motion Picture Academy Award. In front of the camera he won an Academy Award for his performance in Syrians (2005). Away from the big screen he is known for activist work and humanitarian work.
