Donald Lawrence was born on May 4, 1961 in Charlotte, North Carolina. He got a lucky break at the beginning when he was able to join The Tri-City Singers, with whom he released A Songwriter’s Point Of View in 1993. This album ranked in the top 5 on the Billboard Hot Gospel Charts and was released through Sparrow Records.

Before dismantling the group, The Tri-City Singers released a couple albums, one of which had the song The Blessing Of Abraham. This song would go on to be nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Gospel Performance. Lawrence was later made the host of How Sweet The Sound Choir Competition, presented by Verizon Wireless. As for his accomplishments, Lawrence won six Stellar Awards in 2006 for his album I Speak Life, seven Stellar Awards in 2007 for his album Finale: Act One, and “Producer of the Year for The Clark Sister – Live! One Last Time” at the 2009 Stellar Awards. Fans are waiting for Lawrence to release his sequel to his solo album The Law of Confession Part I, but he is currently holding off on that and working on other projects.
