DeForest Buckner was born in Waianae, Hawaii on March 17, 1994. He was the first round, the seventh overall pick of the San Francisco 49ers in the 2016 NFL Draft. The San Francisco 49ers signed him to a four-year contract. He was part of the 2016 NFL-All Rookie Team. He wears the No. 99 shirt and assumes the defensive tackle position for the team.
Buckner went to the University of Oregon prior to being part of the 49ers. He finished four years in the university and announced his intention to enter the 2016 NFL Draft after his senior year. While in college he was named second-team All-Pac-12. His team also won the Pac-12 champion. During his senior year, Buckner earned the first-team All-Pac 12 honor. He also served as the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year.
