Daymond John was born on February 23, 1969 in Queens, New York. His entrepreneurial spirit was nurtured while still in high school. He signed up for a unique program that allowed him to attend classes on a weekly basis so he could work a full-time job. His most significant success Fubu, a hip-hop fashion company, was formed in 1992. Its start-up money came from two mortgage loans on his mother’s house. Daymond worked at Red Lobster until Fubu could afford his expenses. Today Fubu is valued as a multibillion-dollar company.

John joined the cast of the hit series Shark Tank in 2009. He has made personal investments of more than $8 million. He also works as a motivational speaker and author with titles such as Display of Power, The Power Of Broke and The Brand Within. His works have earned him a series of awards such as the NAACP Entrepreneur Of The Year Award and the Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of The Year Award.
