Dawn Wells

Dawn Wells is an American actress born in Reno, Nevada on October 18, 1938. She is best known for playing Mary Ann Summers on the CBS show Gilligan’s Island from 1964 to 1967. In 1959 she was crowned Miss Nevada and represented the state in the Miss America 1960 pageant. Wells made her television debut in the show The Roaring 20s and continued landing roles in the shows 77 Sunset Strip, The Cheyenne Show, Wagon Train, The Wild Wild West, Pastor Greg, Three Sisters, Roseanne, The Invaders, Tales of Wells Fargo, Surfside 6, Hawaiian Eye, Ripcord and others. She made her film debut in the movie The New Interns and has also had roles in the films Rescue from Gilligan’s Island, High School U.S.A., The Castaways on Gilligan’s Island, Surviving Gilligan’s Island and more. After wrapping up Gilligan’s Island she started pursuing a theater career, appearing in close to a hundred theater productions. In 1985 she had a one-woman show at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. She published the cookbook Mary Ann’s Gilligan’s Island Cookbook in 1993 and in 2014 published the book What Would Mary Ann Do? A Guide To Life.
