David Steinberg is a Canadian comedian, actor, writer, director, and author born in Winnipeg, Canada on August 9, 1942. In the late 1960s and early 1970s he was one of the best known comics in the United states and appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson over 130 times. In the late 1960s he appeared in two Broadway productions, Little Murderers and Carry Me Back to Morningside Heights. From 1969 to 1970 he was the host of the music show The Music Scene. In 1975 he hosted a midday talk show on NBC titled Noonday. He has released several comedy CDs, including The Incredible Shrinking God, Disguised As a Normal Person, Booga Booga, and Goodbye to the 70s. In 1972 he was on the comedy sketch show The David Steinberg Show that ran until 1977. In 1967 He made his acting debut in the film Fearless Frank and continued landing roles in films and shows like The Lost Man, The End, Mad About You, Big Sound, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Wrong Guy and others. Steinberg has also directed, wrote, or produced a number of films and television shows like The Comeback, Friends, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Golden Girls, Seinfeld, This Thing of Ours, The Greatest Game Ever Played and more. In 2003 he was inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame and in 2016 he was named a Member of the Order of Canada.
