Daniel Louis Castellaneta was born on October 29, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois. He is best known for his infamous role as Homer in The Simpsons series and film. His first experience with any type of media exposure was his regular part in a radio show at his university. After taking countless improv classes, he was hired by Tracey Ullman for her show. The producers of The Simpsons were looking for voice actors, so they met with Castellaneta and Julie Kavner, who also starred in The Tracey Ullman Show and would later nab the role as Marge Simpson. Interesting enough, Castellaneta’s real voice is nothing like that of Homer.

The Simpsons has been very lucrative for Castellaneta, making him up to $400,000 per episode. He has also been cast in other sitcoms and animations, such as ABC’s Sibs, The Adventures of Dynamo Duck, and Back to the Future: The Animated Series. He has also played guest roles in historic shows including Everybody Loves Raymond, Married…with Children, NYPD Blue, Parks and Recreation, and Friends. He has also appeared in theater productions and released a couple of comedy CDs.

Castellaneta has received numerous awards and nominations for his work in The Simpsons. His Emmy Award wins were in 1992, 1993, 2004, and 2009. He received Emmy nominations in 2011, 2012, and 2015. He has also won two Annie Awards in 1993 and 2000, along with winning a Young Artist Award in 2004 and being nominated for a WGA Award in 2007.
