Beres Hammond

Beresford Hammond, better known as simply Beres Hammond, is a Jamaican singer, songwriter, and producer whose reggae music includes influences from soul, rock, R&B, dance hall, and hip-hop. His debut album, Soul Reggae, was released in 1976. The chart-topping singles, “One Step Ahead” and “I’m In Love” were released shortly after, although neither appeared on his first album.

Since his professional debut, Hammond has gone on to release numerous records. A few of these include 1980’s Just A Man, 1981’s Comin’ At You, 1985’s Let’s Make A Song, and most recently, the two-disc album One Love, One Life (2012). Hammond’s chart topping single “What One Dance Can Do,” was his first song to reach international success.

During his 20+ year career, Hammond founded the record label, Harmony House, and has been associated with artists Wyclef Jean, Buju Banton, and Big Youth.
