In 2012, California natives Christo Bowman, Gavin Bennett, Miles Morris, and Ray Libby got together to create their quartet Bad Suns. Drawing influence from the rock bands of the 1970s and 1980s, the group features a vocalist (Bowman), a bassist (Bennett), a guitarist (Libby), and a drummer (Morris), mirroring the classic rock band makeup. Bowman began writing songs when he was just ten years old, impassioned by the music his father let him listen to, such as Elvis Costello and The Clash.
The band released their debut EP entitled Transpose in 2014 to much acclaim. They had the privilege of working with producer Eric Palmquist, who is behind the music of The Mars Volta. The followed the EP with the release of their debut album, an 11-track full-length entitled Language & Perspective. Shortly after, the band embarked on an extensive North American tour from July to November 2014 to promote their work.
