Alex Morgan is an American professional soccer player born in San Dimas, California on July 2, 1989. She is a forward for the team Orlando Pride in the National Women’s Soccer League and an Olympic gold medalist and FIFA Women’s World Cup champion. Morgan started playing soccer at a young age, but didn’t join a club until she was 14. She started playing with Cypress Elite and won the Coast Soccer League under 16 championships. She went to Diamond Bar High School and played for the school team where she was named All American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. She went to college at UC Berkeley and played for the California Golden Bears from 2007 to 2010. In 2011 she was drafted by the Western New York Flash as the first overall pick in the 2011 WPS Draft. She made her debut in professional soccer on May, 1 2011 in the team’s home opener against the Atlanta Beat and scored her first goal in the match. In 2012 she joined the Seattle Sounders Women and in 2013 joined the Portland Thorns FC until 2015. In 2015 the Thorns traded Alex to Orlando Pride where she is currently playing.
