Optimo

Optimo is the name of both the Glasgow based DJ Duo of J.D. Twitch and J.G. Wilkies and to the name of the club night run weekly every Sunday in Glasgow by the pair at the Sab Club.  In regards to the DJ duo, J.D. Twitch, born Keith McIvor, and J.G. Wilkies, born Jonnie Wilkes, formed Optimo in 1997.  Optimo’s musical styles include the genres of acid house, club/dance, techno, minimal techno and experimental electronic music. As the group’s popularity has increased they have begun releasing live DJ mixes to mimic the atmosphere of their nightclub. The first mix came out in 2004 through Kill the DJ/Tigersushi Records and is entitled How to Kill the DJ (Part Two). They then released their psychedelic follow up in 2005 entitled Optimo Presents Psyche Out under Eskimo Recordings. In 2006 the duo released another mix called Walkabout. 2008 brought an anniversary collection for Optimo called Sub Club 20 Years Underground. From 2008 to 2010 the released two more mixtapes called Sleep Walk through Domino Recordings and Fabric 52 through the Fabric Nightclub in London. Optimo has remixed and worked with many established artists including Cut Copy, Franz Ferdinand, Liquid Liquid, The Kills, Datarock and many more.
